Notes

  • I keep pack weight low. This is my minimal Linville Gorge backpacking gear List. I planned on 2 days, it was hot and no rain was in the forecast. Adjust as necessary.
  • I brought trekking poles mostly for the river crossings. They were extremely useful especially for the southern crossing where the small rocks were extremely slick. My favorite poles are the Black Diamond Alpine Carbon Cork. After picking up a pair of the Distance Carbon Z Poles they are on my wishlist. Those poles are exactly what I want!
  • Crocs would have been useful for the river crossings.
  • Typically I carry the Snow Peak Gigapower 2.0 stove and 700ml pot however I went stoveless and brought a chunk of leftover corned beef and pizza for dinner.
  • I use wet wipes and pack them out in a gallon size freezer bag. Its cleaner and follows the LNT principles better than burying tp.
